Android Game : Super Breathers

SuperBreathers

Overview:

The goal of this project was to create a mobile app to support health education and socialization of children with asthma. Our audiences were children ages 7-11 and their parents or caregivers from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The app will help children and parents understand they can live life normally such as attend school regularly, play sports, and socialize. We expect that children will change their perceptions and feel empowered to control their symptoms. The app is a part of STARS /CAReS* projects which aims to determine the prevalence of asthma in this region as well as treat and educate uncontrolled asthmatics.

Challange:

Children with asthma may feel more isolated and depressed, with irregular use of medication, extra doctor visits, missing school and  activities, much of which could be abated by consistent use of maintenance medicine. The app will showcase that children with asthma can lead rich normal lives, participating in sports, regular attendance at school, less need for emergency inhaler use, etc. So we designed  several things below to make the users power up.

Depending on the interview and playtest we did for asthma children. I decide to use cartoonish, flat and colorful art style. Because the age of our target audience is 7-11 and this kind of style aims to please for both boys and girls.
